Ex-DepEd Usec. Michael Poa now OVP spox

Atty. Michael Poa, former Undersecretary and Chief of Staff of the Department of Education (DepEd), will now serve as the spokesperson for the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

The OVP made the announcement on Monday, August 19, saying Poa’s new position will be effective the same day.

“Starting today, he will be the spokesperson of the Office of the Vice President effective immediately,” the OVP told members of the media.

In July, Poa, along with four other DepEd officials, resigned from their posts almost a month after Vice President Sara Duterte quit as Education Secretary.

"I think it is only appropriate to give the incoming Secretary of Education, Secretary Angara, a free hand to choose the people that will form part of his team," Poa said in a message to reporters when asked about his resignation.

Duterte was replaced by former Senator Sonny Angara as chief of DepEd. — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
