Marcos to give incentives to Carlos Yulo, other Filipino Olympians on Aug. 13
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will welcome and award incentives to two-time Olympic champion Carlos Yulo and other Filipino Olympians in Malacañang on Tuesday, August 13, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said on Friday.
The Filipino athletes who competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, will arrive on Tuesday afternoon and will be met by their families at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.
“The 2024 Paris Olympics athletes will then proceed to the PICC (Philippine International Convention Center), where they will be welcomed by government officials before embarking on a heroes’ parade traversing key areas in Manila. The parade will culminate at Malacañan Palace,” the PCO said.
A special program will be held at the Palace, where Marcos will present incentives to the athletes in recognition of their ''extraordinary contributions to Philippine sports and their stellar performance during the 2024 Paris Olympics,'' the PCO said.
The Philippines has so far bagged four medals in the ongoing Paris Games, with two gold medals in gymnastics from Yulo and two bronze medals from boxers Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio.
Yulo is the country’s second Olympic gold medalist after weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz’s historic feat at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
