NIA, DA start selling P29/kilo rice in Kadiwa centers

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and Department of Agriculture (DA) on Thursday, August 8, 2024, launched “Murang Bigas at P29” at the NIA Central Office in Quezon City.
"Ipinatupad ng admin ng NIA ang rice contract farming at bayanihan efforts kasama ang DA, National Rice Program, at iba’t-ibang ahensya para maisakatuparan ang pagbebenta ng murang bigas sa ating mga kababayan,” DA Secretary Francisco Laurel Jr. said in his speech delivered by undersecretary Christopher Morales.
(NIA implemented the rice contract farming and bayanihan efforts with the DA, National Rice Program, and various agencies to realize the sale of cheap rice to our countrymen.)
The P29 per kilo rice is available at “Kadiwa sa NIA" sites in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Caraga regions.
At a public briefing, NIA administrator Eduardo Guillen, they will sell 10 million sacks or 100 million kilograms of P29 rice this month.
The contract farming program is an initiative in line with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr.'s vision of enhancing food security and fostering sustainable economic growth in the country, which further supports the goal of Bagong Pilipinas. --VAL, GMA Integrated News
