Marcos says police ops humane, bloodless under his admin

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said Thursday police operations under his administration are bloodless and humane.

As he graced the 123rd police anniversary in Camp Crame, Marcos said the crackdown on illegal drugs, smuggling, illegal gambling, private armed groups, human trafficking, and criminality “has also strengthened significantly in ways that are not only effective but legal and lawful.”

“Indeed, police operations are now conducted as humane, as truthful, and as bloodless as possible,” Marcos said in his speech.

To recall, Marcos' predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte, has been criticized at home and abroad due to his bloody campaign against illegal drugs. Human rights groups have since claimed that thousands were killed under the violent war against narcotics.

He said under the leadership of Police General Rommel Marbil, the police force has taken aggressive steps towards sustaining the gains of peace and order in the society.

He also said the PNP has intensified its patrol operations and increased police deployment, noting that this contributed to a notable drop in crime rates, particularly in crime-prone areas.

The President then urged all police personnel to support the leadership of the PNP.

“I trust that you will sustain your current initiatives and take care of the people’s increasing confidence in the PNP’s abilities,” Marcos said.

The police officials need to be disciplined, transparent, and fair, according to Marcos, noting that erring and corrupt police personnel will face the appropriate sanctions.

''Remember your mandate and [place public] safety and service [at] the core of your duty,'' the Chief Executive told the cops.

''So, as we commemorate your anniversary, we commend your sacrifices, hard work, and genuine service for the country. Remember that your tasks, regardless of magnitude or gravity, leave an impact on the lives of our people,'' he said.

Marcos guaranteed that his administration is also prioritizing the welfare of the cops and their families, adding that the government is committed to supporting the Comprehensive Capability Enhancement Program. —AOL/RF, GMA Integrated News
