PNP procures over P553M worth of vehicles, machine guns

Over P553 million worth of vehicles and machine guns have been added to the assets of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

No less than President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. inspected the newly procured equipment during the 123rd Police Service Anniversary celebration at Camp Crame, Quezon City on Thursday. 

According to the PNP, among the new assets inspected by the President were 20 units of personnel carrier, 299 units of light motorcycle, 193 units of light transport vehicle, 75 units of patrol jeep single cab and 155 units of light machine gun.

“A recent procurement valued at P553,342,820 includes personal carriers, light motorcycles, transport vehicles, patrol jeeps, light machine guns,” PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said in his speech.

“These upgrades have significantly enhanced our operational capacity, ensuring more effective and efficient responses and bolstering community safety,” he added.

The costs of the new PNP assets are the following:

  • 20 units of Personnel Carrier 4x4 worth P42,440,000
  • 299 units of Light Motorcycle 150cc-Dirt Bike worth P42,727,100
  • 193 units of Light Transport Vehicle (Marked) worth P271,165,000
  • 75 units of Patrol Jeep Single Cab 4x2 worth P92,475,000
  • 155 units of 5.56mm Light Machine Gun worth 104,535,720

The new PNP assets were procured using the Capability Enhancement Program (CEP) funds in 2022, 2023, and 2024, according to the PNP.

“The PNP's Capability Enhancement Program is committed to advancing our move, shoot, communicate, and investigate capabilities,” Marbil said.

“This initiative encompasses a fleet of 2,317 vehicles, 28,580 firearms, and 8,189 pieces of communication and investigation equipment,” he added. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
