DOJ chief Remulla: VP Sara still has over 300 bodyguards

Vice President Sara Duterte has over 300 in her security detail even after the Philippine National Police recalled 75 police officers, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla has said.

Remulla indicated that the pullout of the police security was no big deal.

“Meron pa siyang 320 security personnel. I don’t think it’s a bad matter to recall some of the personnel. She still has 300 bodyguards. It’s bigger than the president’s,” Remulla said in a press briefing when sought for comment.

GMA News Online has sought comment from the Office of the Vice President but has yet to receive a response as of posting time.

Duterte has said that the PNP had taken away all 75 members of the PNP Police and Security Group assigned to her security detail.

She called out slammed PNP chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, saying the move a "clear case of political harassment."

Marbil has issued a directive to rationalize the deployment of the PSPG personnel, prioritizing individuals identified with high-security threats.

He said that the PNP continues to provide top-tier security services to Duterte, noting that she "retains the most extensive security detail compared to her predecessors." —NB, GMA Integrated News
