GMA Integrated News’ SONA 2024 Special Coverage dominates on-air and online

GMA Integrated News reaffirmed its position as the most trusted source of news and information as its multi-platform coverage of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address 2024 was the most viewed on air and online.

Anchored by Pia Arcangel and Atom Araullo, the “State of the Nation Address 2024: The GMA Integrated News Special Coverage” – simulcast on GMA, GTV, and Pinoy Hits – recorded a combined people rating of 8.2 percent or 6 million viewers in Total Philippines (combined Urban and Rural) based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement Overnight data for July 22, 2024. In comparison, TV5/RPTV’s “SONA 2024 Ulat ng Pangulo” got a combined people rating of 1.6 percent (1.2 million viewers), while A2Z/Kapamilya Channel’s “State of the Nation Address 2024: The ABS-CBN News Special Coverage” received a combined people rating of 0.6 percent.

In Urban Philippines, GMA’s SONA 2024 coverage tallied an even higher combined people rating (GMA, GTV, and Pinoy Hits) of 8.9 percent or 3.9 million viewers. It significantly outperformed TV5/RPTV’s “SONA 2024 Ulat ng Pangulo” and A2Z/Kapamilya Channel’s “State of the Nation Address 2024: The ABS-CBN News Special Coverage,” which only logged 1.9 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.

Online, GMA Integrated News’ coverage of PBBM’s SONA is the most watched SONA stream on both YouTube and Facebook. As of July 23, 12 nn, the livestream of “State of the Nation Address 2024: The GMA Integrated News Special Coverage'' and DZBB's Special Coverage gathered a combined total views of over 2 million on GMA Integrated News' YouTube Channel. On Facebook, it tallied a total of more than 670K views across the pages of GMA Integrated News, 24 Oras, and DZBB.

As the “News Authority ng Filipino,” GMA Integrated News’ SONA coverage commenced early morning via Unang Hirit’s Unang Balita and continued in its flagship newscast 24 Oras, which presented the speech highlights and a series of special reports on the Marcos administration. Late-night newscast Saksi, GTV’s Dobol B TV, Balitanghali, Dapat Alam Mo!, and State of the Nation also provided updates to viewers about the whole day’s biggest and most relevant stories.

GMA Regional TV (RTV) likewise kept viewers in North Central and Southern Luzon; Central, Eastern and Western Visayas; and Northern and Southern Mindanao updated through its regional newscasts aired in different local languages.

The Network’s flagship AM radio station, Super Radyo DZBB 594 khz, and its Super Radyo stations nationwide delivered the biggest news and latest information via “Super Radyo DZBB Special Coverage: State of the Nation Address 2024.” Listeners were able to access the coverage via Super Radyo Cebu, Super Radyo Davao, Super Radyo Iloilo, Super Radyo Palawan, Super Radyo Gen. Santos, and Super Radyo Kalibo. The coverage was also simulcast via Dobol B TV on GTV.

Global Pinoys were able to catch the special coverage via international channels GMA Pinoy TV and GMA News TV. Highlights were also made available on their Facebook and TikTok accounts.
