Meralco: Customers still without electricity down to 125,000

Meralco: Customers still without electricity down to 125,000

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Friday said its crew and personnel continue to work round-the-clock to restore electricity service in the remaining areas that were affected by Super Typhoon Carina and Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) rains.

As of 8 a.m., July 26, Meralco said the number of customers still without electricity service are down to 125,000 — mostly in Metro Manila and Bulacan — from nearly 400,000 affected during the aftermath of the Carina and Habagat rains and flooding.

The power distributor said the rest of the still affected customers are in portions of Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas provinces.

Of the total customers, Meralco said that more than 95,000 are located in flooded areas.

“Again, we thank our customers for their patience and understanding. We are prioritizing safety at this time, but we assure our customers that our crews are working non-stop to immediately restore service in the remaining affected areas as soon as possible,” said Meralco vice president and head of Corporate Communications Joe Zaldarriaga.

The company said its corporate social responsibility arm One Meralco Foundation continued with its disaster relief efforts with the help of employee volunteers.

Meralco said thousands of relief packs have been turned over so far to affected families  in Barangays Sto. Domingo and Tatalon in Quezon City, Barangay Sto. Domingo in Cainta, Rizal, and in Pasig City.

The power distributor also called on the public to report power outages and other concerns through its official social media pages on Facebook (www.facebook.com/meralco) and X (@meralco) or through SMS via 0920- 9716211 and 0917-5516211 and the Meralco Hotline at 16211 and 8631-1111. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
