Sara Duterte: PNP took away all 75 cops in VP's security detail
Vice President Sara Duterte said the Philippine National Police (PNP) has taken away all 75 members of the PNP Police and Security Group assigned to her security detail.
In a statement, Duterte said PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil issued the order on Monday, July 22.
Duterte said that Marbil’s order would not affect her work in the Office of the Vice President.
“I do hope, however, that with this latest directive of the Chief PNP, we hear less cries from the people regarding the proliferation of drugs in the country, and that even fewer shall fall victim to various criminal activities,” Duterte said.
“Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang ating trabaho upang makapaghatid tayo ng serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan — lalong-lalo na sa mga liblib o underserved communities sa ating bansa," she added.
(Our work will continue so we can deliver service to our countrymen, especially to the remote or underserved communities in the country.)
Marbil, in an interview, confirmed the PNP reduced the number of police in the Vice President's security detail.
“‘Yung security ng Vice President is not under anymore sa amin. It’s under the Presidential Security Command,” the PNP chief said.
(The security of the Vice President is no longer our jurisdiction. It's under the Presidential Security Command.)
“What we’re doing right now, especially sa NCR na kulang kulang ang mga tao natin, we have to ano…nagbawas po kami ng mga tao na hindi naman nila kailangan,” he added.
(What we're doing right now, especially in the NCR where our people are not enough, we have to get our people who are not needed by others.)
PSC commander Brig. Gen. Nelson Morales said,"The Presidential Security Command is ready to ensure the security and safety of the Vice President." —NB,GMA Integrated News
