Alice Guo might use her 'active' Chinese passport to escape PH, says Win Gatchalian

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Thursday raised the possibility that suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, who has the same fingerprints as Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, might use her Chinese passport to escape the Philippines.

In an ambush interview, Gatchalian said he believes that Guo's Chinese passport, which he earlier said was used by the embattled mayor until 2011, is still active.

"Ito personal theory ko lang naman na buhay pa 'yung Chinese passport niya. And in an event na magkaganito, ma-aresto siya, makakapunta siya sa China gamit 'yung kanyang Chinese passport," Gatchalian said in an ambush interview.

"Dahil alam niya nagsisinungaling siya, I'm sure meron siyang escape plan...  matalinong tao siya. Hindi naman siya ordinaryong tao. Marunong rin siya. Kaya, theory ko nga, hawak-hawak niya pa 'yung kanyang Chinese passport as insurance. Kung kailangan niyang umalis, at least pwede siyang bumalik doon na walang problema dahil Chinese citizen naman siya in the first place," he added.

Gatchalian shared that he requested the Bureau of Immigration today to check if there is an Alice Guo or Guo Hua Ping who departed from the country's formal exit points.

"Based on the records ng Bureau of Immigration, nandito pa siya. So, kung totoo yun, nandito pa siya sa Pilipinas," he said.

GMA News Online sought the comment of Guo's legal counsel Stephen David but he has yet to respond as of posting time.

Guo is at the center of the Senate investigation into the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) hub in Bamban, Tarlac after several documents showed that she was personally involved in the processing of documents for its operations.

Guo's citizenship was also questioned due to her inconsistent testimonies about her background and the supposed dubious documents regarding her Filipino citizenship.

She, however, repeatedly denied her involvement in POGO operations and maintained that she is a Filipino citizen.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
