New voters reach 4.5 million - Comelec

More than 4 million new voters were already registered for the 2025 national and local elections (NLE), breaching the 3 million target set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The latest data from the Comelec showed there were a total of 4,565,405 new voters for the 2025 NLE as of July 16.

Calabarzon recorded the most number of registrants, with 768,899. It was followed by the National Capital Region (NCR) with 634,881; Central Luzon with 534,782; Davao Region with 268,289; and Bicol Region with 215,094. The Comelec main office registered 7,432 new voters.

Meanwhile, female registrants reached 2,359,536 and male registrants stood at 2,205,869.

The voter registration period for the May 2025 midterm polls started on February 12 and will end on September 30, 2024.

Applicants may register from Monday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at any Comelec office nationwide.

The poll body’s Register Anywhere Program is also open to those who wish to register to vote at designated sites like malls and schools. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
