SC requires Senate panel comment on Alice Guo petition

SC requires Senate panel to comment Alice Guo petition

The Supreme Court En Banc on Tuesday required a Senate committee to comment on the petition filed by suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo asking the  Court to nullify a Senate subpoena issued against her.

“The Court requires the respondent Senate committee to file its comment to the petition… within a non-extendible period of 10 days from notice,”  High Court spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting said in a press conference.

Last week, Guo filed a petition against the Senate Committee on Women,  Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, represented by its chairperson Senator Risa Hontiveros.

She asked the SC to annul the Subpoena Ad Testificandum issued by the committee against her in connection with the investigation into the raided POGO hub in her municipality.

Guo also asked the court to direct the committee to desist from further inviting or causing her to appear as a resource person.

The mayor is at the center of an ongoing probe into the raided  POGO hub in Bamban over illegal activities.

Authorities have filed human trafficking complaints against Guo and others in which she was referred to as “Guo Hua Ping.”

The National Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Guo and Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping have the same fingerprints.

Guo has denied the allegations against her. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
