Alice Guo fingerprint analysis released next week — Comelec

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expected to release the results of the fact-finding investigation against embattled Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo next week, its head said Monday.

Chairperson George Erwin Garcia said the fact-finding committee created by the Comelec Law Department was given two weeks to complete its investigation.

“Baka early next week lalabas na ang fingerprint analysis pero ang gusto natin…makompleto na yung fact-finding investigation kasi dalawang linggo lang ang binigay natin para tapusin ang imbestigasyon,” Garcia told reporters.

(The results of the fingerprint analysis could be released next week but we also want to receive the complete results of the fact-finding investigation since we only gave two weeks for it.)

The Comelec chief earlier ordered the committee's establishment to determine if Guo committed material misrepresentation in her candidacy in the 2022 polls, which is a basis for the filing of an election offense.

Garcia said the poll body had met with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to share information regarding the probe. He also said the Comelec would coordinate with the Office of the Solicitor General.

He said Guo would be given the chance to respond to the findings and recommendation of the fact-finding committee.

The Comelec previously said it may file “motu proprio” charges against Guo based on misrepresentation following the findings that she and Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping have matching fingerprints.

The 37-year old Bamban mayor is at the center of a Senate investigation into the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) hub in Bamban that was raided by authorities.  Several seized documents showed that Guo was personally involved in the processing of documents for its operations.

Guo's citizenship is also in question due to her inconsistent testimonies about her background and the supposed dubious documents regarding her Filipino citizenship. —RF, GMA Integrated News
