Marcos sends ‘thoughts and prayers’ to Trump after assassination attempt

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. extended his well wishes after learning that former US president Donald Trump is safe after an assassination attempt during a presidential campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday morning (Philippine time).

“It is with great relief that we receive the news that former President Donald Trump is fine and well after the attempt to assasinate (sic) him. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” Marcos said in a statement via his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

“Together with all democracy loving peoples around the world, we condemn all forms of political violence. The voice of the people must always remain supreme,” Marcos added.

Trump was shot in the ear during a Saturday campaign rally, streaking the Republican presidential candidate's blood across his face and prompting his security agents to swarm him, before he emerged and pumped his fist in the air, appearing to mouth the words "Fight! Fight! Fight!"
