Marcos says Bataan transmission line to generate power supply

AURORA - President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said Friday that the Mariveles-Hermosa-San Jose 500 Kilovolt Transmission Line would help generate power services even in Metro Manila.

“This development involves more than two hundred seventy-five circuit kilometers of overhead lines supported by nearly almost four hundred towers and two new substations; [and] a total line transmission capacity of eight thousand megawatts,” Marcos said during its inauguration.

The President said the new transmission line would serve as a vital corridor for the current five thousand megawatts and the additional 2,500 megawatts of committed power generation projects in Bataan and in Zambales.

“Once operational, it will certainly strengthen power transmission services not only in the region, but all the way [to] Metro Manila,” Marcos said.

Marcos also said the transmission project attests to the transformative power of collaboration between the public and the private sectors with the aim to attain a stable, reliable, and resilient power supply for the country.

“It will also help in the administration’s thrust to transition to renewable energy to mitigate the impact of geopolitical uncertainties and of course, the effects of climate change,” he said.

Marcos tasked the Department of Energy and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines to complete the almost 70 transmission projects on time as indicated in the Transmission Development Plan.
