NBI nabs 5 alleged members of hacking syndicate

Five suspected members of a hacking syndicate victimizing government websites and companies were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation

In a statement on Thursday, the NBI said their surveillance operation showed that cybercrime group BLOODSEC International Group Of Hackers was allegedly behind several cyber intrusions to government agencies and companies such as the Commission on Elections and a cable provider, and stealing data to offer for sale.

NBI arranged an entrapment operation by engaging with the subjects for the purchase of numerous amounts of data from the cable provider, which included subscriber information.

Four of the suspects were arrested in Tagaytay City, Cavite after receiving marked money. The fifth suspect alias “Godlike,” a known hacker, phisher, scammer, and a member of ANONYMOUS Philippines, was nabbed in a follow-up operation in Quezon City.

All five will be facing charges for violation of the Data Privacy Act and the Cybercrime Prevention Act.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/AOL, GMA Integrated News
