‘Rowdy’ Russian DJ faces deportation after Pasay club arrest — BI

A 36-year-old Russian DJ was arrested in a club in Pasay City on Monday for undesirability, the Bureau of Immigration said.

The BI said the foreigner’s arrest stemmed from an order of its Board of Commissioners.

The bureau noted the Russian man was already ordered to be deported in 2023 after he was found to have been overstaying in the country for over three years.

“The Bureau of Immigration does not welcome foreigners who abuse the country’s hospitality. We are committed to maintaining peace and order, and we will take necessary actions against those who violate our laws,” said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco in a statement on Wednesday.

The BI added the foreigner was previously apprehended by authorities in 2020 and 2022 for his behavior.

“In 2020, he was arrested in El Nido, Palawan for resisting and disobeying persons in authority after local officials reported that he was drunk and violent in their barangay. Additionally, in 2022, he was cited in a news report for assaulting a tricycle driver in Puerto Princesa,” the bureau said.

The BI said the Russian will be temporarily held in its facility inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City before his eventual deportation. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
