Alice Guo not seen in Tarlac farm for several weeks already —OSAA
Suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has not been seen in her farm for several weeks already, according to the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA), citing information from the embattled mayor's helper.
Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Roberto Ancan said this in a report dated July 4 to Senator Risa Hontiveros with regard to their issuance of the subpoenas against Guo and her family members.
According to the report, the subpoenas addressed to Mayor Alice Leal Guo, Ms. Cheila Leal Guo, Mr. Wesley Leal Guo and Mr. Jian Zhang Guo were not served at their address in Barangay Virgen Delos Remedios, Bamban, Tarlac.
"According to... a helper in the farm, Mayor Guo has not gone to the farm for several weeks now and he has no idea of her whereabouts," the OSAA report read.
"Furthermore, he stated that he does not know siblings Sheila, Wesley, and Jian, hence, he refused to receive the subpoena," it added.
Despite the refusal of the helper to receive the subpoena, the officers from the OSAA still gave copies of the subpoenas to the helper if ever Guo and her siblings arrive at the farm.
After which, the OSAA said they went to Bamban Municipal Hall in the attempt to have the subpoenas against Guo and her relatives received.
However, Guo's personal secretary likewise "refused" to receive the subpoena against the mayor and her three siblings, including the letter of invitation to her other brother, Mr. Seimen Leal Guo, and Ms. Wenyi Lin, the suspected biological mother of the mayor.
The OSAA said they still gave copes of the subpoenas and the letter of invitation to Guo's office.
On July 5, Guo's legal counsel Nicole Jamilla received the subpoena against the mayor, her father, her siblings, and Katherine Cassanda Li Ong, including the invitation letters for Seimen Guo and Wenyi Lin.
However, Guo's lawyers reiterated that David and Jamilla Law Offices do not represent them except for Alice Guo "alone."
"[W]e have no knowledge of their whereabouts nor we have any sort of communication with any of them. As previously communicated through e-mail, we would like to clarify and make it of record that our law firm only represents Mayor Alice Leal Guo, and her alone," lawyer Nicole Jamilla said in the letter.
Earlier in the day, Guo's other lawyer, Stephen David, said the suspended mayor is not keen on attending the continuation of the Senate investigation into the raided POGO hub in her town after being "traumatized" during the previous hearings.
The others who were subpoenaed by the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality in relation to its investigation into the raided Bamaban POGO hub were Jaimelyn Cruz, Roderick Pujante, Juan Miguel Alpas, and Nancy Gamo.
Of the four of them, only the subpoena to Nancy Gamo was served through her liaison officer.
Guo is at the center of the Senate investigation into the raided POGO hub in Bamban after several documents showed that she was personally involved in the processing of documents for its operations.
She is also suspected to be part of a criminal syndicate operated by Chinese nationals.
Guo's citizenship was also questioned due to her inconsistent testimonies about her background and the supposed dubious documents regarding her Filipino citizenship.
Guo has denied involvement in illegal POGO activities and maintained that she is a Filipino citizen. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
