Geneva Lopez kin call for justice over her, Yitshak Cohen deaths

The bereaved family of beauty pageant contestant Geneva Lopez is calling for justice over her death and that of her Israeli boyfriend Yitshak Cohen, GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon's Jasmin Gabriel Galban reported on “BaliTanghali” on Monday.

Authorities over the weekend found the victims’ bodies in a quarry site in Barangay Sta. Lucia in Capas, Tarlac days after they were reported missing.

Autopsy reports showed that the couple died of gunshot wounds. Lopez had gunshot wounds at the back of her torso and her thigh while Cohen had gunshot wounds on his chest and near the armpit.

Lopez’s remains were cremated as her family held a wake at the Gate of Heaven Memorial Chapel in Minalin, Pampanga, while Cohen's body was scheduled to be repatriated to Israel this week.

Friends and kin of the slain Mutya ng Pilipinas candidate visited her wake as her family asked for privacy to grieve, according to the report. They also said they would leave the investigation to the police.

In a separate interview over BaliTanghali, Lopez family legal counsel Jonnifer Lacanle said the bereaved family was still grieving and had asked for space to mourn their loss.

Asked if they would pursue charges against the possible perpetrators, Lacanle said: “I think the circumstances demand that justice should be done”.

Lopez and Cohen were last seen on June 21 when they drove to Capas to check on the property they planned to purchase.

According to Cohen's brother, Yaniv, Cohen went to Capas not to purchase land but to take possession of the land title as collateral for a debt owed him.

Cops said four persons of interest were in police custody for their possible involvement in the incident. — Sundy Locus/DVM, GMA Integrated News
