House: SONA preps at Batasan done by July 15

The House of Representatives will finish its preparations for its hosting of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s 3rd State of the Nation Address (SONA) by July 15 or a week before the annual event.

“We are 90% done [as of today],” House Secretary General Reginald Velasco told GMA News Online.

“All the refurbishings, renovations, et cetera...will be completed by July 15th,” Velasco added.

A SONA inter-agency meeting was earlier held in Malacañang Palace on Tuesday. During the said meeting, Velasco discussed the ongoing renovations that the House is undertaking ahead of the President’s SONA.

During the said meeting, Inter-Parliamentary and Public Affairs Department (IPAD) and House Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Grace Andres announced new room designations for all the guests on the day of the SONA.

Prior to the meeting, officials from the Office of the President did an initial walkthrough of the SONA scenario, from the President’s arrival to his delivery of the SONA and post-SONA activities.

The final meeting for SONA preparations is scheduled on July 15, 2024.—RF, GMA Integrated News
