Barbers 'pretty sure' about Imee's spot on admin's slate for Eleksyon 2025
Nacionalista Party stalwart Ace Barbers said Tuesday that he is "pretty sure" that Presidential sister, Senator Imee Marcos, will be part of the administration's lineup in the upcoming elections.
This, as Barbers bared that the NP is set to have an alliance with the Chief Executive's Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) by the end of the month.
“In the NP, we are in the process of firming up the alliance between NP and PFP... Kasama si Presidential sister, si Senator Imee, kasi she belongs to NP. So, if we're firming up alliances with the PFP, I am pretty sure if she's an incumbent senator, I'm pretty sure that kasama siya sa slate," said Barbers.
(The President's sister is in the slate because she belongs to NP. If we are firming up alliances with the PFP, I'm pretty sure she is in.)
Last week, Senator Marcos herself said that she was "unsure" if she will be endorsed by her brother.
"Hindi ko nga alam kung kasama ako," Sen. Marcos said in an ambush interview when asked if she will join the administration slate.
(I don't even know if I will be included.)
Barbers, meanwhile, said there may be other factors that may result otherwise.
"Unless, hindi ko alam kung ano yung...ano...but my honest opinion is, kasama siya,” Barbers explained.
(Unless, I don't know...but my honest opinion is that she is in.)
Senator Marcos, meanwhile, previously said the recent developments in the political landscape, particularly the resignation of her ally Vice President Sara Duterte as her brother's Education secretary, will not make her 2025 campaign "complicated."
It was the lawmaker who brokered the tandem between her brother and Duterte for the 2022 polls.
After Duterte's resignation, Marcos said she will continue to believe and stick with the vice president.
She also previously denied reports that she is looking to run for Manila mayor. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
