Malaysian foreign minister pays courtesy call on Marcos

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday welcomed Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan during the latter's courtesy call to Malacañang.

“Welcome, welcome to the Philippines. Thank you for finding time to visit with us while you are traveling around ASEAN. So, I hope you will have a productive visit,” Marcos told the Malaysian envoy.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the two discussed bilateral relations between the Philippines and Malaysia and regional issues.

The visit of the Malaysian foreign minister comes a year after Marcos’s state visit to Malaysia and four months after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's official visit to the Philippines, during which he and Marcos discussed bilateral cooperation in security and digital economy between the two countries.

The PCO said in 2023, the Philippines’ exports to Malaysia amounted to $2.18 billion while imports from Malaysia were estimated at $5.92 billion. — Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
