Marcos vows to develop Antique airport

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vowed to continue enhancing the Antique airport.

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday vowed to continue enhancing the Antique airport.

Marcos made the commitment as he distributed presidential assistance to farmers and fisherfolk in the province. He said the Antique Airport Development Project would cater to the needs of more travelers and bigger aircrafts.

''Sa susunod na buwan, sisimulan na natin ang pagpapalawak ng runway, paglalagay ng mga check-in [counters] at iba pang mga kagamitan para sa passenger terminal building,'' Marcos said in his speech.

(Next month, we will start developing the runway, place new check-in counters, and do other things needed for a passenger terminal building.)

The President handed over P50 million aid to the provincial government of Antique; P50 million to the provincial government of Iloilo; P28.41 million to the provincial government of Guimaras; P50 million to the provincial government of Capiz; and P50 million to the provincial government of Aklan.

Marcos also led the turnover of farm machineries and equipment such as post-harvest kits, fiber reinforced plastic boats, bags of seeds, bio-fertilizers, a power sprayer, a multicultivator, a four-wheel tractor, a rice combine harvester, floating tillers and seed nuts.

On the other hand, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed P10,000 each to 10,000 beneficiaries composed of farmers, fisherfolks, and families.

Further, the Office of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez distributed five kilos of rice to each of the attendees. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
