Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo removed from NPC
The Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) removed suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo from the political party amid complaints filed against her in line with her alleged involvement in the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in the town.
“In view thereof, I will be directing our Secretary General, Sec. Mark Llandro Mendoza to implement the said order and immediately inform Mayor Guo of her removal from the party,” NPC chairman Vicente "Tito" Sotto III said Saturday in a letter released on Sunday.
Guo’s removal from NPC was in response to the petition of Tarlac Governor Susan Yap filed on June 17.
The idea to expel Guo from the party was first brought up by fellow NPC member Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.
On Friday, authorities filed a complaint against Guo for alleged human trafficking in connection to the illegal POGO hub in her town.
Over 800 Filipinos and foreigners were rescued in the Bamban POGO hub after it was raided in March.
Guo earlier denied her involvement in the operation of the illegal POGO hub in her town. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/KG, GMA Integrated News
