Mayor Alice Guo's SALN shows mismatched info

The Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo contained mismatching details on her declared properties, Mav Gonzales reported Wednesday on “24 Oras."

According to GMA Integrated News Research, Guo declared assets was worth around P429 million in her June 30, 2022 SALN. An amended copy of the document issued July 1, 2022, however, indicated her net worth plunged to only P286 million.

From nine properties, Guo removed three real estate properties including a company under her name. Also cut from the list of her personal properties were club shares and a deposit for land acquisition worth P138 million.

Guo’s December 31, 2022 SALN showed she reinstated her P138 million deposit, club shares, and six real estate properties.

The Senate committee on women and children held an executive session earlier to discuss the national security issues tied to the alleged illegal activities of some Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) firms in the country including human trafficking and cyber fraud.

Invited in the closed door hearing are the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, National Security Council (NSC).

Guo, who was at the center of the investigation over her alleged links in a raided POGO firm in Bamban, was not invited.

Zun Yuan Technology Incorporated was raided by police and the military in March for alleged illegal activities inside the Baofu Land Development Inc. compound located behind the Bamban Municipal Hall in Tarlac.

“Isang panawagan sa NSC na iangat na kay Presidente tong usapin ng POGO bilang national security threat,” said Hontiveros.

(We call on the NSC to raise this issue to the President as a national security threat.)

“Isang naging paksa rin sa exclusive na unang bahagi ng executive session ay 'yung sinasagawa na link analysis ng ISAFP tungkol sa POGO at iba’t ibang sentro ng kapangyarihan o yaman dito sa ating bayan,” she said.

(One of the things we discussed is the link analysis the ISAFP is conducting between POGO and powerful entities.)

Meanwhile, the  Anti-Money Laundering Council will brief the Senate panel on the possible illegal revenues of Zun Yuan Complex and Baofu Land Development Inc., which Guo previously owned.

In a letter of explanation submitted by her lawyer to the office of Hontiveros, the embattled mayor refuted allegations that her real mother is Chinese citizen Wen Yi Lin.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA Integrated News
