Marcos names Kathryna Yu-Pimentel as special envoy to UAE

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. appointed Ma. Anna Kathryna Yu-Pimentel, wife of Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, as special envoy to the United Arab Emirates.

Marcos administered her oath of office on Tuesday, June 4, at the Palace.

Earlier in the day, Marcos administered the oath of Imelda Papin as acting member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Pimentel said she brings a strong commitment to bolstering the economic ties between the Philippines and the UAE.

She has been active in various international forums on investment and economic cooperation hosted by the UAE, including the World Government Summit in February 2024, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP 28, in December 2023, Dubai Airshow and Dubai Watch Week in November 2023, Dubai Expo, and Techspo Dubai.

"With the upcoming 50th anniversary of our diplomatic ties this year, I hope to be able to contribute to the further strengthening of our relationship with the UAE as the President’s special envoy,” Pimentel said in a press release. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ/VBL, GMA Integrated News
