Ukraine's Zelenskyy ends short visit to Manila

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday left Manila after a quick working visit.

The Presidential Communications Office said Zelenskyy left the country at around noon. He had a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr., a first in the history of the Philippines and Ukraine's bilateral ties.

Part of his delegation during his visit to the Philippines were Denys Mykhailiuk, chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia; Ihor Brusylo, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Chief Protocol; Roman Mashovets, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Chief Military Advisor; and Igor Zhovkva, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Foreign Policy Advisor.

Zelenskyy, who arrived in the Philippines on Sunday night, has expressed gratitude to the Philippine government for its support for Ukraine's steps and measures in achieving peace.

Marcos has expressed elation over the visit of Zelenskyy in the Philippines to discuss issues similarly faced by the two countries.

He said he is happy to see his Ukrainian counterpart as they did not have the opportunity to meet on the sidelines of the 2024 IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
