DOJ holds caravan for Marawi siege victims, IDPs

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday said it will provide free legal assistance to victims of the Marawi Siege and internally displaced persons (IDPs) through a caravan.

According to the Justice Department, the Katarungan caravan will be conducted in collaboration with the Public Attorney’s Office, the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine National Police, and volunteer private lawyers.

It will be held from June 3 to July 3.

The caravan will conclude before the deadline of the filing of claims under the Marawi Siege Compensation Act of 2022

“I entrust the welfare of our brothers and sisters of the Marawi Siege and the IDPs to our dedicated fellow public servants from DOJAC, PAO, NBI, PNP and to our volunteer private lawyers," Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said in a statement.

"Take swift and decisive actions over their concerns and claims, ensure that no one will be left out," he added. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
