Senate shortens work hours on Monday due to malfunctioning aircon

The Senate has cut short its work schedule on Monday due to malfunctioning air conditioning units in the building.

Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. issued an advisory upon the instruction of Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero.

"In view of the malfunctioning air-condition units of the Senate which caused the increase in room temperature in all offices, Senate President Francis 'Chiz' G. Escudero has instructed that work in the Senate shall only be until 1:00 p.m. today, June 3, 2024," the advisory read.

The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms and Maintenance and General Services Bureau which have shifting schedules are excluded from the shortened schedule.

In a text message to GMA News Online, Bantug said the malfunctioning air condition units have made the Senate offices "unbearable hot."

Earlier today, Escudero conducted another round of inspection to make some changes inside the Senate building before the end of June or before the State of the Nation Address in July. —KG, GMA Integrated News
