Chinese arrested for pointing gun yields high-tech, military-grade gadgets

A Chinese citizen who was arrested for pointing a gun in Makati City also yielded high-tech and military-grade gadgets, which had the police asking questions as regards their use.

According to Mark Salazar's report on "24 Oras," among the items seized by the police from his place of arrest were various gadgets, an equipment set with circuit boards, a portable power station, a military-grade drone, a high-powered firearm, and a bundle of P1,000 bills.

 "According to him ay nag iisa siya dito. But why is it na meron siyang mga ganung gadgets despite na he's living alone,” said Police Lt. Col. Imelda Reyes, the spokesperson of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

(According to him, he is living alone. But why is it that he had those gadgets if he was?) 

“Wala tayong ganung ibang gamit na meron siya. So therefore, we have to tap the experts to validate bakit why is it na mayroon siyang ganitong gamit and for what kind of operation itong gamit nya,” she added. 

(We don’t have those gadgets that he has. So therefore, we have to ask the experts to validate why he would have those kinds of gadgets and for what kind of operation is he using them?) 

The suspect is now at the CIDG-NCR Custodial Center. But the police are having a hard time interrogating him because he doesn’t know how to speak English. 

The suspect said he had been in the Philippines for six years. When asked what he did for a living in the country, he said, "POGO." 

The PNP-CIDG said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines is already helping in the investigation. The authorities have also coordinated with the Chinese Embassy in Manila. 

The suspect will remain under the custody of CIDG-NCR until the court orders his detention in a jail facility. —Vince Ferreras/NB, GMA Integrated News
