DBM OKs creation of 5,000 non-teaching posts for DepEd
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the creation of 5,000 non-teaching positions for the Department of Education (DepEd).
In a news release on Tuesday, the DBM said the creation of non-teaching positions for 2024 was a request of the DepEd “in order to help relieve teachers from the burden of performing administrative tasks due to the lack or absence of non-teaching personnel in schools.”
As part of its commitment to relieve teachers of administrative tasks, the DepEd issued Order No. 002, s. 2024 which mandated the removal of administrative tasks from the workload of teachers, enabling them to focus and maximize their time on the teaching and learning process.
“Our educators already have their plates full. By approving the creation of 5,000 non-teaching positions, we aim to relieve teachers of administrative tasks and allow them to focus on quality instruction. This move will significantly benefit our educators and enhance the country's education system," said Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
The DBM said the created 5,000 non-teaching positions within the DepEd are Administrative Officer (AO) II positions with Salary Grade (SG) 11, will be deployed in various school division offices and schools in the Cordillera Administrative Region, National Capital Region (NCR), Regions I, II, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, and CARAGA.
