PNP probes 2 SAF cops working as bodyguards for Chinese citizen

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched an investigation into the two Special Action Force (SAF) cops  who were found to be working as bodyguards for a Chinese citizen living inside an exclusive residential village in Muntinlupa City.

According to Jun Veneracion's report in  24 Oras on Tuesday, the PNP wants to make sure officers from its other units are not providing personal services to private individuals.

"Pati rin po yung ating mga regional directors were given instruction to account yung kanilang mga personnel," said PNP spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo. "There is a possibility na baka may iba pa pong PNP unit providing unauthorized security."

The two SAF members are facing administrative charges for working as bodyguards to a Chinese citizen living inside an exclusive village in Ayala Alabang. The two policemen are part of units currently deployed to Zamboanga City.

The duo was arrested after the two men reportedly figured in a heated argument over the weekend that led to blows, with one of them sustaining wounds on his forehead.

According to PNP regulations, only the Police Security Protection Group is permitted to provide security to authorized individuals, especially those who have threats on their lives.

Seven other high-ranking SAF officers are also facing administrative charges.

The PNP said there could be a possibility that the two SAF cops were paid to illegally provide their services to the foreigner.

"Logic dictates na hindi po libre yung services nitong dalawang pulis po natin," said Fajardo.
