2 SAF cops face admin charges for working as Chinese national's bodyguards
Two Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (SAF) police officers who were recently involved in an altercation were charged with administrative cases for allegedly working as the personal bodyguards of a Chinese national in Alabang.
According to Chino Gaston's Monday 24 Oras report, the two SAF cops were supposedly deployed in Zamboanga City.
However, they received orders from a battalion commander.
PNP Chief Police Major General Rommel Marbil said a total of seven other PNP-SAF members, including the concerned battalion commander, company commanders, platoon leaders, and other personnel with direct supervision over the arrested policemen, were relieved from duty amid the investigation into the incident.
“‘Yung mga nag-leave na nine na 'yan, not because they gave the orders but they account for their personnel. Every day ina-account kami. Not only in SAF but in every other units. 'Pag in-account kami, nandun kami,” said Marbil.
(The nine were relieved not because they issued the order but because they failed to account for their personnel. We were held to account every day. Not only the PNP-SAF but all units.)
The two policemen were arrested after reportedly figuring in a heated argument over the weekend that led to blows, with one of them sustaining wounds on his forehead.
They also admitted to working as personal bodyguards of a Chinese national in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
According to PNP regulations, only the Police Security Protection Group was permitted to provide security to authorized individuals. — Sundy Locus/DVM, GMA Integrated News
