Bong Revilla's Achilles tendon surgery wound reopens
Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. on Tuesday revealed that his Achilles tendon surgery wound has reopened, prompting him to continue his attendance in Senate sessions virtually.
In a statement, Revilla said he was advised by his doctors to take a medical leave from the plenary sessions.
"Sa aking pisikal na pagdalo at paglahok sa plenaryo–na taliwas sa paulit-ulit na payo ng aking mga doktor–namaga at bahagyang bumuka ang sugat mula sa aking Achilles tendon repair surgery," he disclosed.
(The wound from my Achilles tendon repair surgery became swollen and has slightly opened. [This has affected] my physical attendance and participation in the Senate plenary, which is contrary to the repeated advice of my doctors.)
Revilla said Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri initially decided not to allow him to participate in the Senate deliberations virtually.
However, the Senate body has eventually decided to allow him to join the sessions remotely.
Revilla thanked his colleagues for considering his condition and for allowing him to participate even being physically absent on the Senate plenary hall.
Last April 17, Revilla disclosed that he was confined at a hospital due to an injury he suffered while filming his upcoming movie project, "Alyas Pogi."
In a previous Facebook livestream video, Revilla said he suffered partial tear of his Achilles heel while filming a running scene, and that the doctors have recommended surgery to address the injury.
Last week, Revilla said he was on his way to recovery, but noted that "it's still a long way to go."
At the time, he said that his recovery from the Achilles tendon rupture would be three months or up to a year. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
