Case disposition rates in lower courts increased in 2023 — SC
The disposition rate of cases in first and second-level courts nationwide increased to 61% in 2023, the Supreme Court (SC) announced Monday.
Citing data from the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA), the High Court said that the case disposition rate for first-level courts increased from 60% in 2022 to 61% in 2023.
Meanwhile, the disposition rate for second-level courts increased from 39% in 2022 to 42% in 2023.
The SC said that the case disposition rate is obtained by dividing the total number of decided, resolved, and archived cases by the total number of pending and newly filed cases, and then multiplied by 100.
During his speech at the 19th National Convention and Election of Officers of the Philippine Association of Court Employees (PACE), Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo thanked the lower level courts for their contribution.
“You are the first point of contact between our institution and the people who come to us in search of justice…Whatever your rank or position may be, the work that you do, day in and day out, is the best reflection of the kind of justice that we dispense, and of the quality of service that we provide,” Gesmundo said in a statement.
Also present in the convention were Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, Associate Justice Jose Midas Marquez, and Court Administrator Raul Villanueva.
According to the SC, PACE is the association of employees in the first and second-level court. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
