Marcos maintains there's no threat vs Arnie Teves
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Monday reiterated that there was no threat against the life of former Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr., the alleged mastermind in the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
''Same thing. Wala naman kami... sa lahat ng mga sinasabi ni Arnie Teves, takot siya sa buhay niya, wala kaming report na ganoon. Walang nagbabanta sa buhay niya,'' Marcos said in an interview with reporters.
Timor-Leste authorities arrested Teves last March, the Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed. The DOJ said that Teves was arrested while playing golf in Dili.
Teves was under the custody of the Timorese police.
The arrest came a few weeks after the first death anniversary of the late governor and the other victims who were killed on March 4, 2023, when armed men barged into Degamo's home in Barangay San Isidro in Pamplona town and shot the victims in the middle of an aid distribution activity.
Teves was placed on the International Criminal Police Organization's (Interpol's) red notice in February.
A red notice is a request for law enforcement worldwide to locate and arrest a person pending his extradition, surrender, or similar legal action. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
