At least 34K cops to be deployed to terminals, ports, airports across PH for Holy Week
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said it is finalizing the security measures that will be imposed for the observance of the Holy Week.
“Iyon pong security preparations para po sa Oplan Semana Santa ay it is already in its final stage. We expect bago matapos ang linggong ito ay ilalatag na po natin ang ating seguridad,” PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said in a press conference.

So far, Fajardo said, there has been no threat monitored in connection with the observance of the Holy Week, which will runs from March 24 to 31.
She added that the PNP will initially deploy 34,000 police personnel across the country to terminals, airports, and seaports, but the number will be increased if needed.
Regional directors have the discretion to increase their deployment and raise their alert level status.
This week, an interagency meeting with the management of terminals will be conduct to ensure smooth travel for the people going to provinces.
According to Fajardo, an influx of passengers is expected this week end as many people will take advantage of the holidays to have their vacation as well.
Around 7,000 police personnel will guard major tourist destinations nationwide, she said. — BM, GMA Integrated News
