Bangsamoro Grand Mufti says Ramadan to start March 12 in PH
The holy Islamic month of Ramadan is set to start on Tuesday, March 12, as the moon was not sighted on Sunday night, the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ (BDI) announced.
Moon sighting — which determines the start of Ramadan — was administered in several areas in Mindanao as decided by Bangsamoro Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani, together with other BDI ulama and religious sectors.
This was conducted in areas such as Cotabato City, Maguindanao del Norte, and the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, and Iligan City.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which believers of the Islamic faith observe fasting, as Muslims reflect, pray, and fast for spiritual discipline and strengthened faith.
BDI Executive Director Emran Mohamad urged the Muslim community to abide by the Bangsamoro Mufti’s declaration. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
