Senate hails Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes for inspiring Pinoys in 'Rewind' film

The Senate on Monday adopted a resolution commending Kapuso stars Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes for serving as an inspiration through their latest movie "Rewind" and for emulating family values to Filipinos.

"Ang salmo ng parangal at pagkilalang hinihingi sa lupon na ito ay hindi lamang sa usapin ng pagiging bagong hari at reyna ng pelikulang Pilipino ang mag-asawang Dantes, kundi ang pagiging inspirasyon ng dalawang artistang ito sa libo-libong mga kababayan natin," Senator Robin Padilla, author of Senate Resolution 909, said in sponsoring the measure.

(This honor and recognition is not only for the new king and queen of Philippine cinema, the Dantes couple, but also serving as an inspiration these two artists serve for thousands of our countrymen.)

"Sila po ang simbolo ng makabagong pamilyang Pilipino – may pag-ibig sa Diyos, sa bayan, sa kalikasan at sa kapwa-tao kung kaya nararapat lamang po ang ating pagkilala sa kanila sa hapong ito," he added.

(They are the symbol of the modern Filipino family – with love for God, the nation, for the environment and their fellow man so that is why it is rightful for us to recognize them today.)

In the said resolution, Padilla also acknowledged Director Mae Cruz-Alviar and said that the success of the film as well as the people behind it "proves our pride and gratitude to those who relentlessly work to contribute to the evolution of the country's cinematic landscape."

"This achievement is a testament to the return of a vibrant and flourishing Philippine film industry--attributed to the hard work and commitment of artists, writers, directors, and all members of the production teams," Padilla said.

The Kapuso couple were physically present at the Senate session on Monday to receive a copy of Padilla's resolution.

Apart from Padilla, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, and Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros praised Rivera, Dantes and the people behind the movie.

All members of the Senate were made co-authors of SR 909.

In his manifestation, Villanueva said the Metro Manila Film Festival in 2023 showed that the industry is still vibrant.

"We congratulate the artists and the production staff not only of Rewind but also the other films in the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival like Firefly, Mr. President," Villanueva said.

This manifestation was seconded by Zubiri.

"I must say lalong gumaganda ang quality ng pelikulang Pilipino every year that comes by," the Senate president said.—RF, GMA Integrated News
