Former GMA anchor Mike Lacanilao passes away at 88

Former "GMA Balita" anchor Mike Lacanilao has passed away at the age of 88. 

This was confirmed by his wife, Anna Francisca Castañeda-Lacanilao, according to a "24 Oras" report on Monday. 

The veteran journalist previously served as a co-anchor of GMA Balita, one of GMA-7's news and public affairs shows in the 1990s. He was also the president of Febias College of Bible from 1976 to 1982. 

A joint memorial service in his honor will be held at Greenhills Christian Fellowship in Ortigas on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

A public viewing of his wake will likewise be conducted in Sucat, Parañaque on Thursday, Feb. 15 before he will be laid to rest. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA Integrated News
