Remulla orders NBI probe on bomb threats vs gov’t agencies
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Monday ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the bomb threats made against several government offices.
“There should be no place for pranks or spreading fear among our people. Let this be a warning to those behind this that we will not tolerate such acts, and we will go after you with the full extent of the law,” Remulla said in a statement.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) central office in Quezon City received a bomb threat on Monday afternoon.
According to the DOJ, the threat was sent through an email by an individual that identified himself as Takahiro Karasawa, an alleged Japanese lawyer.
The DOJ said Karasawa allegedly came from the “Steadiness Law Office” and was supposedly a highly knowledgeable bomb-maker.
"In the email, Karasawa emphasized that bombs will rock major Philippine government agencies on February 12, 2024 approximately around 3:34 pm," the DOJ said.
Meanwhile, in Bataan, provincial police chief Police Colonel Palmer Tria directed all stations to respond to the government agencies that received a bomb threat from Karasawa. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
