GMA Kapuso Foundation brings aid to 6k residents in flood-hit Davao de Oro

A total of 6,000 individuals from the municipalities of Nabunturan, Monkayo, and Pantukan in Davao de Oro received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation after they were affected by flooding due to continuous rains.

According to "24 Oras," Friday, among those who were greatly affected was Oscar Doctor and his banana trees, in which he was still supposed to earn P300.

“Mahirap po eh kasi wala nang hanapbuhay. Kasi 'pag magbaha, may tubig, masira din ‘yung mga tanim,” he said.

In a report from the Department of Agriculture in Davao, at least 6,300 farmers were affected by the recent flooding and landslides in the region.

In Barangay Awao in Monkayo, residents, including Teresita Orcajo, have long been crossing a river without a bridge.

And because of the recent rains, the river’s water rose to higher levels.

“‘Yung kapatid ko po, ‘yung magpunta kami sa bayan, maghahawakan lang po kami. Nakakatakot po kasi malakas ‘yung ilog,” Teresita said.

To help the residents, GMA Kapuso Foundation delivered aid to a total of 6,000 residents.

“Malaki pong epekto sa kabuhayan ng mga kababayan natin dito sa Davao de Oro. Itong tulong po ng GMA Kapuso Foundation is napakalaking tulong po,” Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Laroa said.

For those who are interested to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
