Marcos, a music lover, says Coldplay's PH concert is 'unmissable'

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos watch Coldplay's concert

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said the Coldplay concert that he attended last Friday was unmissable.

Marcos made the remark amid the flak that he drew after watching the concert at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

“By now, alam niyo na na music lover talaga ako (By now, you know that I am really a music lover). I have been for a long time. I studied music for many years. And to have somebody like Coldplay, unmissable dapat ‘yun, cannot miss,” Marcos told reporters.

“It was, by the way, fantastic. Ask anybody who attended the concert. Ibang klase. Hindi na iyong concert na pinupuntahan namin dati. Ibang iba na, he added.

(It was different. It was unlike the concert we watched before. It was really different.)

Marcos described the concert as spectacular, noting that he had not experienced that kind of concert before.

''Talagang it’s a whole—not only that, [their] show [was] spectacular. Talagang hindi pa ako nakakita ng ganun. Wala pang ganoon sa Batac,'' Marcos said.

(It's really a whole—not only that, their show was spectacular. I haven't seen anything like that before. There's no concert like that in Batac.)

Marcos watched the concert together with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

"The Coldplay concert was awesome! Bravo Chris Martin!! [clapping hands emoji]," the First Lady said in a post on Instagram.

The Marcoses rode the presidential helicopter to the concert venue. Defending the move that has gained flak on social media, the Presidential Security Group on Saturday said transporting Marcos via chopper to the concert amid a huge traffic snarl was done for his safety.

Meanwhile, the British rock band posted a message of gratitude to all the Filipino fans who attended their concert.

"Thank you for two incredible nights, Manila," Coldplay wrote.

The band also posted a 38-second montage of photos and videos of some popular tourist spots in Manila and snippets from the jampacked concert with their song "Adventure of a Lifetime" playing in the background. —KG/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
