VP Sara to Sto. Niño devotees: Embrace humility, ‘childlike’ sincerity
In observance of the Feast of Sto. Niño, Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday reminded devotees to embrace humility and a childlike sincerity to attain spiritual growth.
Duterte said that the annual Sinulog Festival in Cebu City signifies a spiritual journey marked by humility and personal transformation.
“The ceremonial dances and lively parades symbolize the devotees' longing to transform themselves and embrace a childlike modesty,” she said in a statement.
“Above all, Sinulog serves as a powerful reminder that on our path of spiritual growth and devotion, embracing humility and a childlike sincerity is of utmost importance.”
Duterte also urged devotees to continue their journey to become devoted followers of God and to nurture their spirituality along the way.
“May this vibrant celebration inspire us to strive for a future where our enduring traditions and shared convictions stand as pillars of pride and fortitude. May we be blessed with stronger bonds that unite us as we work together for a more prosperous Philippines,” she said.
The Vice President also extended her greetings for the Ati-Atihan Festival in the province of Aklan, saying that it is a celebration of faith, hope, and gratitude, and represents the Filipinos’ profound connection with the divine and their dedication to living a life of humility, joy, and communal spirit.
“As we participate in this year's celebration, may its true essence infuse us with even more energy, grounded in our nation’s history and character, embodying resilience in the face of challenges and unity amidst diversity,” she said in a separate statement.—RF, GMA Integrated News
