SBMA chief quits post, moves to DILG as usec
Just eight months into the job, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Jonathan Tan has resigned from his post.
Armina Llamas, Officer-in-Charge of the SBMA Office of the Deputy Administrator for Corporate Communications, confirmed Tan's resignation.
"In behalf of the men and women of the SBMA, I convey our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the hardwork and dedication rendered by our beloved Jonathan Tan as SBMA chairman and administrator, who had been part of the SBMA family for the past eight months," Llamas said.
"We wish you all the best in your new journey," she added.
Businessman Eduardo Aliño has taken over as the administrator after President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. swore him in Aliño.
According to the Presidential Commnications Office, Tan has taken his oath as an undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Aliño is the chairman of the Subic Bay Yacht Club, and the president and chairman of the S.T.A.R. Group of Companies.
He is also the president and chairman of Subic Bay Freeport Grain Terminal Services, Inc. and Mega Equipment International Corp.
Tan, on the other hand, is the former mayor of Pandacan, Antique and a businessman owning JDT Construction and Supply and president of JDT Trading.
Marcos appointed Tan, a former mayor of Pandan town in Antique, to the top SBMA post last May 2023.
Tan replaced former SBMA chief Rolen Paulino, who resigned on April 15, 2023 without completing his six-year term. —VDV/NB, GMA Integrated News
