DepEd targets to finish K to 12 curriculum review in May 2024
The Department of Education (DepEd) said Thursday it targets to finish the review of the K to 12 curriculum in May of this year.
''Ang target date po natin para matapos 'yan is May 2024. After the review, bibigay sa atin, ipepresenta sa atin kung ano 'yung mga napansin nila and then we will start with the revision process,'' DepEd Undersecretary Michael Poa said when asked at a Palace briefing about the matter.
(Our target date is May 2024. After the review, they will present to us their findings and then we will start with the revision process.)
In January 2023, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte said the agency was set to revise the K to 12 curriculum in a bid to produce more job-ready and responsible graduates.
A task force was created to review the said curriculum.
The DepEd said the task force would include a Secretariat that will provide administrative support for the effective implementation of the SHS Program Standards and Support Systems “by addressing logistical concerns and convening the members of the SHS NTF when needed.”
Among the task force's responsibilities was to review existing program policies “to ensure consistency, responsiveness, and relevance” to the needs of the learners and stakeholders; and strengthen engagement with private sectors and various industries at the national and regional levels to improve SHS employability.
It was also expected to develop policies and plans based on the program implementation review results and in anticipation of its future needs; and coordinate with relevant offices like state universities and colleges, and public and private schools, to develop an SHS database that includes policies, program offerings, and private school data.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
