Over 600 devotees received medical assistance during 2024 Traslacion -- PRC
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) extended medical attention to more than 600 devotees who attended the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene on Tuesday, January 9.
As of 3 p.m., the PRC assisted a total of 606 patients suffering from major and minor cases.
Of the number, 256 were checked for their vital signs while 182 had minor cases including abrasion, burn, dizziness, puncture, laceration, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, hyperventilation, wound, headache, elevated blood pressure, and infected wounds.
At least six patients suffered head trauma (swelling), laceration, incision, fainting, severe chest pain, and suspected fracture on the left ankle.
The patients were transferred to the PRC emergency hospital and the Philippine General Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, nine devotees were assisted by welfare services through tracing and referral.
The PRC also provided hot meals for 125 responders.
More than 1,000 PRC volunteers were deployed on Tuesday for the 2024 Traslacion.
The Traslacion returned to the streets of Manila after three years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Quiapo Church, the procession officially started and left Quirino Grandstand in Manila at 4:45 a.m
Around 2 million people are expected to join the procession.
The church reported that 1,008,000 people were spotted along the procession route from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
This was aside from the estimated 60,500 devotees recorded during the same period at the Quiapo Church, also known as the Parish of Saint John the Baptist.—Sundy Locus/AOL, GMA Integrated News
