No destabilization plot vs. Marcos in AFP —spox
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday dismissed rumors of a destabilization plot against the Marcos administration within its organization.
“Wala pong ganiyan sa AFP (There is no discussion for a destabilization plot in the AFP),” AFP spokesperson Colonel Medel Aguilar told Dobol B TV.
“We can assure the public that we are solid and united. And we’ll focus sa ating misyon. Huwag muna kaming idamay-damay sa mga iyan kasi it will not be good for our country,” he added.
(We can assure the public that we are solid and united. And we’ll focus on our mission. Don’t drag us into such issues because it will not be good for our country.)
Aguilar expressed confidence that active soldiers will not engage in any destabilization plots against the administration because they are professional and obedient to the organization’s leadership.
On Sunday, former President Rodrigo Duterte refuted rumors that he has been secretly meeting with certain police, soldiers, and politicians amid the supposed destabilization plot.
Duterte said he has no reason to do so as he is comfortable with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
He maintained he is content with what he achieved during his stint as chief executive, and of what he has done for the country, his family, and for himself.
Duterte pointed out that that he is already done with politics at this point in his life.
Earlier, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said also dismissed reports of destabilization plots against the Marcos administration circulating on social media.
PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said they were coordinating with the AFP to address these concerns.
“Sa ngayon, wala naman po tayong namo-monitor na any destabilization plot kagaya po ng naririnig natin lately,” Fajardo said in a Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing last Friday.
(Right now, we have not monitored any destabilization plots like what we have been hearing lately.)
“We are closely coordinating with our counterparts particularly the Armed Forces of the Philippines and we are ready to address these kinds of issues kung darating po tayo sa ganoong punto (in case we reach that point),” she added.
According to Fajardo, the PNP was aware of social media posts that used the photos of PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. and AFP chief of staff General Romeo Brawner Jr.
Fajardo advised the public not to believe such reports on social media, adding that the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group was going after the perpetrators behind these social media posts and would be filing complaints against them. —KG, GMA Integrated News
