BOC: P56 million in shabu seized, shipment consignee nabbed
Authorities seized P56,069,400 worth of shabu at the Port of Clark that was allegedly disguised as a shipment of dry food, the Bureau of Customs said on Tuesday.
According to the BOC, the shipment tested positive for illegal drugs during x-ray screenings and K-9 inspection following information from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The shipment consisted of 8 brown heat-sealed plastic packages that arrived from California, USA on December 17.
The packages were later revealed to contain 8,126 grams of shabu, as confirmed by the PDEA chemical laboratory.
The BOC and PDEA arrested a male claimant of the package in an operation on December 19.
The drug bust was the biggest illegal drug apprehension in the Port of Clark in 2023, according to the BOC. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
