Marcos, First Lady host dinner for senators in Malacañang

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos hosted a dinner for senators on Tuesday night at Malacañang Palace.

The dinner was first disclosed by the president’s older sister— Senator Imee Marcos in an ambush interview on Tuesday.

According to Senator Marcos, only light conversations were discussed during the dinner.

“Chikahan lang 'yun ang inapi-api dun si Senator [Sherwin] Gatchalian, yun lang. Wala nagkabiruan lang kung kailan magpapakasal, naiipnip na kami,” she said.

(We were just poking fun at each other. We were teasing Senator Gatchalian about his love life.)

In a separate ambush interview, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said he was able to discuss the International Criminal Court’s investigation during the dinner hosted by the first couple.

“He invited us and the first lady, yung first couple, nag-imbita sa amin for a dinner social, casual lang na dinner,” Dela Rosa told reporters in an ambush interview.

“Napag-usapan namin personally, kaming dalawa. I am not at liberty to reveal the details of our conversation dahil nga it is privileged communication between us. So basta tingnan niyo na lang yung mukha ko, nakangisi… Happy ako, happy,” he said.

(The two of us talked about it. I am not at liberty to reveal the details of our conversation because it is a privileged communication between us. Just look at my face. I am happy.)

Of the 18 majority senators, two were not able to attend the dinner namely Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda and Senator Francis Escudero.

The members of the minority bloc were also not around but Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel’s wife was seen in the pictures during the gathering.

Meanwhile, Senators Pia and Alan Cayetano, who dubbed themselves independent senators, were present at the dinner. —NB, GMA Integrated News
